In the September school term, SAM became the music service for several schools across Sussex, including Shoreham Beach First School, Thomas A Becket First School, Ashington CE Primary School and The Littlehampton Academy (previously Littlehampton Community School). The Sussex Academy of Music provides one-to-one and paired instrumental tuition, workshops and other music related courses. Most lessons in schools are half-an-hour and take place during the school day and where required, after school. In addition, SAM can offer discounts to the schools and students on instruments, replacement parts, books and supporting materials. This is made possible through its many endorsers, currently including Sabian, Hutchins, Remo, Vic Firth, Rotosound, Roland, PDP and Protection Racket. The music service provided by SAM is a very personal one, where each lesson structure is moulded around the student’s aims and aspirations; the lessons are all documented and weekly reports are sent to the parents and the music department of the school or college. SAM is very pro-active in organising live events, as playing music with others helps with such skills as communication, confidence and also it’s great fun!
