| SAM helps hospital raise £10k |
So far this year, the SAM team have been very busy taking part in many local and community events across the Sussex area. Last Saturday SAM was delighted to take part in a special one-day fundraising event held at the Queen Alexandra hospital home. SAM provided music for the event, which showcased the talent of one of their popular bands - Dr Bluegrass and the Illbilly 8. They performed some excellent, honky tonk stompin’ music, which really got the crowd going! The sun was out in full glory for this year’s Open Day, a popular success attracting over 500 visitors including residents, their family and locals from the community. Also in attendance was Dame Vera Lynn, who officially opened the festivities, BBC journalist, Nicholas Witchell, and Matthew Badcock, the mayor of Worthing. The fun fete provided the guests with an afternoon of entertainment, music, dancing as well as a variety of stalls. The Queen Alexandra Hospital is a registered charity, providing nursing and rehabilitation care for disabled men and women who have served with H M Forces. Every year they host an Open Day, a significant event to raise funds for the care of their residents. The day was a huge success and with the help of SAM the Open Day successfully managed to raise an awesome £16,000, a fantastic effort which will go a long way to the residents at the Queen Alexandra Hospital Home.
