SAM Band Debut at St Paul's!

The SAM Band played to a welcome reception at the St Paul’s C of E primary school.

Kristy Coppendale and the SAM Band attended St Paul’s morning assembly as special guests, and put on a terrific show for it’s young audience and head teacher Linda Dupret.

The band featured three of SAM’s music tutors, Lucy Osborn (guitar), Dale Parker (drums) and Eva Rustige (vocals). Kristy was on hand to introduce the band and talk to the pupils about music and the benefits of learning to play an instrument. The children were then invited to try the instruments out, the drums proved to be a popular choice with the boys and girls who were very eager to have a go on them.

The SAM band then demonstrated their music skills, and treated the audience to a few popular songs, including Florence and the Machine’s rendition of ‘You’ve got the love’, which had all children singing!

The highlight of the performance was when three of the pupils were selected from the audience and taught how to play along to Queen’s ‘We will rock you’. Each child was given a section on the drums and shown how to play a selected rhythm. The outcome was spectacular with the band playing along and the audience singing the chorus.

Encouraging music involvement in a fun way strengthens children's educational, physical, and emotional development. SAM’s music tutors teach throughout Sussex in many schools, and offer affordable, fun tuition. If you are interested in booking the SAM band for your local school assembly, then please call Kristy Coppendale at Sussex Music Academy.
